War and Peace

Today, if you go online and use 'google' to search you will see the 'google' characters appear as origami models. This is to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the grand master of origami Akira Yoshizawa's birth. Origami has many benefits, click on the link to read about how therapeutic origami can be http://sites.google.com/site/origamimind/home

Spring bumble blissed out on nectar

With this in mind it came as a surprise to learn from the next link
http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/august/6/newsid_3602000/3602189.stm the involvement of the British government in the development of the atom bomb, and that the second, and largest atom bomb dropped on Nagasaki in 1945 was named 'Fat man' after Winston Churchill. With people still suffering birth defects etc. as a consequence of those terrible events of 1945 it is timely to think about the origami 'peace crane' and the young girl who inspired the making of peace cranes throughout the world, Sadako Sasaki. Click on the link to find out more about her life story http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadako_Sasaki
Perhaps heads of state should sit and make peace cranes before meeting with other nations leaders, to help them achieve a mindful approach to current affairs.
