Mother yourself

Although 'mothers day' will be a happy time for lots of mothers and children, there are also many who will find this day difficult and painful for many different reasons. Whatever your situation be kind to yourself, give yourself some tender loving care.

We can all nurture each other by making time to care for one another.  Mothering isn't just for our species, plants, animals etc. are mothers too. Milk and cheese produced by cows, goats and sheep connects us to the grass and pasture flowers that go into the milk, the pasture flowers are part of the land. Thanks to Mother earth who nourishes us every day.

War and Peace

Today, if you go online and use 'google' to search you will see the 'google' characters appear as origami models. This is to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the grand master of origami Akira Yoshizawa's birth. Origami has many benefits, click on the link to read about how therapeutic origami can be http://sites.google.com/site/origamimind/home

Spring bumble blissed out on nectar

With this in mind it came as a surprise to learn from the next link
http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/august/6/newsid_3602000/3602189.stm the involvement of the British government in the development of the atom bomb, and that the second, and largest atom bomb dropped on Nagasaki in 1945 was named 'Fat man' after Winston Churchill. With people still suffering birth defects etc. as a consequence of those terrible events of 1945 it is timely to think about the origami 'peace crane' and the young girl who inspired the making of peace cranes throughout the world, Sadako Sasaki. Click on the link to find out more about her life story http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadako_Sasaki
Perhaps heads of state should sit and make peace cranes before meeting with other nations leaders, to help them achieve a mindful approach to current affairs.

Sun blessed Sunday peace walk

breath in breath out
A warm Spring morning greeted the 'peace walk' on Sunday. Mark and Angie gave a short introduction to the mindful activity drawing on the teachings of the Zen Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh. Everyone set off in silence taking in the beauty of the trees and surrounding park at Appley, soon we were setting our own pace and taking time to enjoy each moment.

Rain blessings

Rain rhythms :

'and with rainy eyes. Write sorrow on the bosom of the earth'.
From Richard ll by William Shakespeare.

It rains in my heart
As it rains on the town:
What is this languorous ache
That wounds my heart?

Gentle, the sound of rain
Battering roof and ground.
How sweet the sound of rain
For the heart in pain!

Paul Verlaine / Translated by Manu Bazzano (Zen Poems) MQ Publications Ltd.

Falling in love with mother earth TNH

Mindful words from Thich Nhat Hanh encouraging deep listening, (or in this case, reading).

Why fall in love with a car when you can fall in love with the living things that produced the oil that keeps the cars running, that gives us paper, warmth etc. etc. The tree. The woodland Trusts mission to plant one million trees for the Queens Jubilee this year, is met by news that the new high speed2 rail link is likely to run through numerous pristine, and ancient woods and forests. These old trees are established eco systems for myriads of creatures, its well known now that biodiversity is good for the planet, so if these old trees were to be cut down the creatures that inhabit them would find it hard to survive, new saplings would possibly take decades to establish a viable habitat and shouldn't be expected to act as replacements. Old trees are special. Click on the link below to view more on this subject and how you can help.
