Fruit blessings

Double helpings of gorgeousness while making mandalas. Pretty pictures on fruitwrappers and delicious fruit to eat. Particularly liked the stalk still on some of the fruit, a link with the person who wrapped the fruit so carefully, so that it arrived with all its sunshine intact. Thank you Spanish soil, sun etc.

oops! camera strap wanted to get in the shot too!

Ruminations

Wise words

This we know. All things are connected like blood which unites one family. Man did not weave the web of life - he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.

Chief Seattle

A human being is a part of this whole, called by us 'Universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to apportion for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
Albert Einstein

I would add that the word 'he' should also be widened to include 'she', or whatever term the reader feels most comfortable with.

Random Acts of Kindness

Next week, according to the calendar is 'random acts of kindness week'. It also happens to be a week when the children don't have to be in school. Kind acts can happen anywhere at anytime, so you don't have to wait for next week - begin now. You've probably been doing this all your life, just not calling it anything special. Sometimes we can get a little rusty if we don't practice. The more you make it a part of your life the easier it becomes, and the better for our lives and others. Its infectious try giving it to someone else.

Nurturing the wild things

This morning a hard frost settled on trees and grass, a beautiful scene. Blackbirds, sparrows, finches, robin, blue tit all eager for food. Wild things struggle to survive no matter what the weather, but in particular when the ground is frozen. A badger lay in a heap on the bank of a busy road, probably hit by a car during the night whilst out scavenging. A buzzard perched on a telegraph post scanning a field ahead, a little further on a kestral on the lookout for signs of life below, all hunting for their next meal, for some a matter of life or death.

So when you look out of your window remember the wild things. They need our help, a little shelter, a little food will aid them, get them through the lean times.
